The Zen Plan

by West Coast Biofuel

In order to comply with increasingly tough emissions standards worldwide, engine manufacturers, fleet operators, maritime shipping companies, rail lines and the aviation industry are required not only to substantially reduce emissions of particulate matter (PM), but also emissions of nitrogen-oxides (NOx).

Everyone’s Problem:

Fossil carbon fuel emissions are harming the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the climate we depend on for our very lives.

Our Solution:

The West Coast Biofuel ZEN Plan consists of our group of Zero and Low Emission technologies, creating a renewable energy solution today to reduce and replace fossil fuel in all transportation industries.

The ZEN plan provides a measurable method of improving emissions of particulate matter and emissions of nitrogen-oxides. Outputs, Outcomes and Performance Measures are quantifiable in both economic savings to every engine using the ZEN Plan and to the environmental improvement those cleaner engines provide.

The ZEN Plan provides numerical and financial values to emission reduction by combining three principles:

  1. Monitor
  2. Clean
  3. Sustain

A measurable monitoring system is the cornerstone of a pollution mitigation strategy. The ZEN Plan provides validation of the standards used in our process with business use cases for municipality fleets, over-the-road fleets, off-road equipment, and marine vessels.

The ZEN Plan provides Real-time Business Intelligence of engine emissions for government and industry transportation managers. Our easy to install monitoring device can be reused between multiple vehicles and any type of marine vessel.

The purpose of our monitoring is to provide an initial baseline of pollution monitoring for all types of engines.

A subsequent monitoring, after the introduction of clean biofuel/renewable fuel, provides specific information for an individual engine or compiled to show improvement for an entire fleet:

  • Municipality fleets: delivery, waste, transport, and mass-transit.
  • Over the road: Transport fleets.
  • Off-road: Construction vehicles, Agricultural equipment, Port equipment,
  • Marine: Cargo ships, tankers, and in-port vessels.

The monitoring aspect of the ZEN Plan is provided by a small device attached inside the end of a vehicle’s tailpipe or marine exhaust funnel. There, it monitors NOx emissions and particulate matter at the point of origin where pollution enters the environment.

  • The monitoring device is economical and easily installed.
  • The Wi-Fi based monitor begins transmitting a vehicle or ship emission data within minutes…
  • …and can be moved from one vehicle or ship to another to effectively record emission data on several vehicles.

Ongoing spot monitoring by government agencies provide a means of enforcing compliance of federal, state, regional, or local emission regulations. With statistically accurate data, companies with violations of emission regulations can now be subject to fines or loss of government agency contracts.

With our detailed monitoring, we provide the means to know who (specifically) is polluting within the transportation industry sector and how much pollution they are causing, by company fleet and by individual vehicle or ship…

…and we know how to fix it – using the two other components of the ZEN Plan.

With an emission baseline established, an optional Clean aspect of the ZEN Plan is initiated. Our Clean partner is an environmental company dedicated to improving air quality by providing advanced technology products to improve the efficiencies of diesel engines, especially in the heavy-duty transportation industry.

Proprietary technology severely reduces diesel particulates (soot & smoke) while providing the diesel operators with enhanced performance and cost savings via:

  • a cleaner running engine
  • increased fuel economy
  • reduced maintenance expense
  • and extend engine life.

We maximize engine life by virtually eliminating carbon creation at its source, the combustion chamber. In doing so, the ZEN Plan provides continuous emission reductions for a cleaner and safer environment, improved fuel mileage, and lower maintenance costs.

By 2030 clean, low carbon diesel fuel will represent a 71% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions (GHG)…
…a reduction of 263 Million tons of GHG in California alone.

A low emission and pollution mitigation strategy is sustained over time with a low carbon/no carbon fuel supply model. Maintaining an emission and pollution mitigation strategy requires a continued commitment to fuels designed to reduce and/or eliminate SOX and NOX emissions.

  • SOx: Sulfur oxide emissions are mainly due to the presence of sulfur compound in the fuel.
  • NOx: NOx is produced from the reaction of nitrogen and oxygen gases in the air during combustion. Nitrogen oxides are discharged into the atmosphere as air pollution

SOx and NOx levels are reduced in the transportation industry by switching to fuels incorporating renewable sources in their production and reducing/eliminating the use of fossil fuels.

The True No Carbon Solution: A Move to 100% Renewable Fuel

Our proprietary zero emissions renewable diesel fuel, registered as EcoBoost FuelsTM (, is produced from non-petroleum renewable sources. EcoBoost Fuels is available to the trucking, meirine shipping, aviation, and rail industries

  • EcoBoost 100% Biodiesel
  • EcoBoost 100% Renewable Fuel

Benefits of West Coast Biofuel’s EcoBoost TM

  • Reduces carbon dioxide emissions to near-zero levels due to the biogenic lifecycle of its non petroleum-based feedstocks
  • Reduces particulate matter at least 50% when compared to petroleum diesel
  • Has significantly higher cetane values and better combustion than petroleum diesel
  • Has increased lubricity to dramatically reduce friction between the engine’s moving parts
  • Made in America

Our Liquid Storage, Blending, and Distribution Terminals are in Stockton, CA. and McFarland CA., geographically located for distribution to a broad segment of the commercial transportation sector.

The Z.E.N. Solution

The ZEN Plan technologies behind these principles, when combined, will reduce emissions of particulate matter caused by combustion engines throughout the fleet, the industry, the region, the country – today.
